The Happs

Recently:

I am obsessed with crocheting. No matter that I redid the hat I have been obsessively wearing this week like, oh, 5 times.

May be even more obsessed with finding awesome crochet patterns. So many projects, so little yarn.

Obsessively think about wanting to learn to knit. I figure I should master the crochet a little more, but keep finding great knits that I just HAVE to make.

Grateful for a job that has a super slow season (plus job security) that allows me to crochet, pattern shop, and watch Hulu. (Seriously, this job is a God send).

Loving sweet old ladies at the temple who stop me, give me a warm hug, and just have to tell me that I have the most beautiful skin. That I look like an Old English Beauty. (I will take that).

Praying for a good and perhaps exciting job opportunity for Joel. You should too. If you so desire. And grateful for friends and family who provide good networking tools.

Loving my incredible cook of a husband. He cooks for me daily. And its always something innovative and delicious.

Thankful for a possible photo job opportunity in San Diego in a couple weeks. Nervous?

Excited for holidays: New gluten free Thanksgiving treats to try making, family in Seattle, and then family in Vegas for Christmas.

Glad that I got to see Jess the other week. And love the seeded bread she left me.

Constantly scheming in regards to working out and cleaning. Mostly scheming.

St. John's Bridge, otherwise known as our favorite, as seen from our car. Apparently, the windshield was REALLY dirty. But kind of creates a cool effect, no?

Farmer's Market

How I love thee, Let me count the ways....

1. The old ragged time musicians that tickle my ears....

2. The old ragged time washed board and sax that delight my ocular senses...

3. the radishes....oh the radishes!! Did anyone know that radishes were so good? They have become a staple in our home.....and the husband that cooks wonderful things with the radishes isn't so bad either.....

4. STRAWBERRIES! And matching Dahlia's for mere dollars.

5. Strawberry freezer jam that takes me back to my youth in Cali were we would buy ginormous flats of the berries on the side of the road and enjoy the jam the mom made all summer. My taste buds are happy....

6. The future Mellor Estate....JK, its the visitor center for the University but look at that porch!

7. Bikes and ivy covered buildings....

8. And making trips to the wonderful New Cascadia Traditional Gluten Free Bakery where we get day old Hallah (my favorite) for so cheap! Delish bread to eat with the strawberry jam. If you are free of gluten, P-land is the place to be.

Other products of more recent farmer's market visits.....fresh basil and heirloom tomatoes topped with mozzarella on great gluten free artisan bread, baked butternut squash, dark chocolate chunk cookies made with butternut squash leftovers, potato chowder filled with great earthy carrots and radishes in EVERYTHING!

Next stop, we are going to attempt butternut squash or pumpkin enchiladas, since gluten free ravioli with those fillings seems a more difficult feat. I will report on how it goes.

Joel likes to take pictures too

The Sands of Tibet

Joel is always finding cool little places for us to visit. Like this sand art demonstration being done by Tibetan monks at this great store that carries incredible imports from all over called Cargo.

This particular Tibetan monk was just showing me the glittery bouncy ball he had been bouncing. It has an (fake) eyeball inside and lights up when it bounces.

Whoa

Is it just me, or does this Pablo Montero character that is performing at a Northwest Casino and whose face is plastered on a billboard I see everyday on the way to work.....
bear a striking resemblance to Joey Lawrence, best known for his famed role in the TV series, Blossom?

Maybe it's just me.

Or MAYBE, Joey has changed his identity to that of a Latin musician. Stranger things have happened.

Adventures in Primary-ing

As of this past Sunday, Joel and I are officially Sunday School Primary teachers. Meaning we get to teach the eight year olds every Sunday. I have had nothing to do with primary since my graduation at age 12. Joel, on the other hand was used in Primary quite a bit following his mission. In fact, they called him the bouncer and put him with the problem classes that no one else could handle. So he's pretty much a professional.

Our inaugural Sunday included:

A Primary Program rehearsal
2 boys that couldn't stop talking and tried really hard to raise their hands to tell us
-that they have a really big house, that is practically a mansion, but isn't really a mansion, but kinda is
-that they have 27 ties
-that they like Joel's tie
-ask if I made my earrings
-note that Joel was wearing a pink shirt
-bet Joel $20 that they had more than one tie
-tell us that he drew the picture of a painting of Adam and Eve Joel was showing them (next up, honesty)
We talked about families and temples and being able to go there and be with our families forever, and then came the drawing of temples.

Matt was kind enough to inform us that his temple had really tall doors so that NBA players can go there too.

During Sharing time whilst they were practicing songs for their program in a couple weeks they:
-kept looking over at Joel's sleeves to his dress shirt which he had pushed up to his elbows
-kept pushing up their shirt sleeves to look like Joel's

There were also 2 soft spoken darling girls and one such boy as well.

We also got to hang out with Joel's 10 year old cousin in Sharing time. Matt, in our class is Joel's cousin's cousin (which really blew their minds) who will be in our class come January. He's only 20+ years older than them. Not confusing at all.

So far, liking Primary.

Make up your mind already
